Cinnamon Sugar Cookies
If you are looking for the perfect cookies to go with your morning coffee, your search is OVER!
I pretty much love any recipe that combines Cinnamon in it, so it was pretty certain that this recipe is going to be a keeper in my recipes book. The combination of Cinnamon with crumbling sugar butter cookies is just to die for.
This recipe is super easy to make, its fun to cut out the little hearts and you can do it even with your kids. The sky is the limit with this basic butter sugar cookies recipe, you can combine pretty much everything and it will be yummy.
So how I did it? Pretty simple, this is what you’ll need:
- 7 ounces of room temperature butter
- 12.5 ounces of regular flour ( around 2.5 cups)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 0- 1/4 cup of milk ( You’ll only need to add the milk till the dough is workable and doesn’t crumbles, make sure not to over use the milk since if you do the dough will be sticky, in this case just add more flour)
- 3.5 ounces of powdered sugar
For the top
- 2-3 teaspoons of Cinnamon
- White & Brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons of melted butter
How to Make
Start by hitting your oven to about 350ºF. In a food processor or by hand, add the flour, salt and powdered sugar, mix. Add the butter, and mix , if the dough is still crumbling add some milk till you get a soft and smooth dough make sure not to add too much of milk since then the dough will be sticky, you can alway add some flour in order to make the dough less sticky, make a ball , place in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap . It’s important to let the dough rest , place the bowl in the refrigerate for at least 45 minutes.
Once the dough is cold, it is ready to be used, Roll the dough on a floured baking sheet to just under a ¼-inch in thickness. Using a heart cookie cutter, cut out the hearts from the dough. This is the time to get creative if you have other cool cookies cutters feel free to use them, the dough is soft and perfect to cut out any shape you want. This dough should be enough for about 40 cookies.
For this recipe I’ve used half of the dough to create almond cookies, I simple added some crushed almonds to the mix the on top of the hear cookies I used the almond in I sprinkles some crushed almonds along with the sugar and cinnamon mix. And here is the final and soooo yummy result.
